Passive Double
Utilizing common stick frame construction with standard dimensions, the Passive Double reflects two inverse approaches to keeping warm.
One half aims to keep out the cold: A stick frame with 2 inch rigid foam, wrapped in reflective foil. Inside its muffled interior, visitors gather under a light well where their heat is kept within insulated walls.
The other half aims to gather the sun: A stick frame with polycarbonate panels traps heat around a pile of concrete blocks. Inside its bright interior, visitors gather around the pile of blocks; its mass radiating back the sun’s heat.
